              EDGAR COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION

 

          DEMOLITION DERBY RULES & REGULATIONS

 

               FOR STOCK COMPACT CARS AND TRUCKS

 

 

 

1.Any DRIVER under the influence will be DISQUALIFIED

 

AND REMOVED from premise and NO REFUND.

 

2.Each driver must fill out an entry form at the back

 

gate the day of the derby.  Each driver must supply

 

his or her own car and only ONE entry per person per

 

class.

 

3.Drivers must be eighteen(18)years or older to enter.

 

Must have valid driver's license. (Drivers must be

 

sixteen(16) years or older to enter compact class

 

only. Parents must sign a waiver form at time of

 

inspection. Drivers must show their license at entry

 

time.)

 

4.The Association reserves the right to accept or

 

reject any  or all entries.

 

5.Only owners or drivers who sign the release form

 

will be permitted in the pit area or on the track.

 

The driver will receive a free pit pass upon

 

registration of car on day of derby.

 

6.Any driver or crew member disobeying the rules will

 

cause his or her car to be disqualified.  Drivers are

 

responsible for the action of their crew.

 

7. Contestants of the derby cannot be Superintendents

 

of the Edgar County Fair Demolition Derby.

 

8.The Fair Association will not be held responsible

 

for any cars, parts, or other personal property

 

before, during, or after the show.

 

9.Alcoholic beverages WILL NOT BE ALLOWED in the

 

infield area.  Alcohol will be searched for and

 

confiscated of site.  Anyone caught with alcohol on

 

the fairgrounds will be removed and no refunds will be

 

made.

 

10.Infield and pit speed limit will be enforced.  No

 

hot rodding, donuts, or other unsafe driving will be

 

tolerated.  These practices can be grounds for

 

disqualification with entry fee forfeited.

 

11.Any altercations between drivers and crews or

 

drivers, crews and officials will be grounds for

 

disqualification and possibly barred from future

 

derbies.  We have a good show at Paris,IL.--let's keep

 

it that way.

 

12.CONTESTANTS ARE TO USE THE NORTH FAIRGROUNDS

 

ENTRANCE ONLY. 

 

 

 

Any American made hardtop automobile or station wagon

 

is allowed.  NO trucks, convertibles, hearses, jeeps,

 

imperials, imperial sub, or limousines are allowed.

 

 

 

                PREPARATION OF CAR

 

           NO IMPERIALS OR IMPERIAL SUBS

 

1.All glass including windshield, side windows, rear

 

windows, head and tail lights must be removed.

 

Rolling the windows down is not permitted.  Glass in

 

car will result in rejection at tech station.

 

2.All external molding (ex. chrome,plastic, metal tail

 

light lens, bumper guards and trim) must be removed

 

before the station or will be rejected.

 

3.Any sharp protruding finds or dangerous objects:

 

mash down or cut off. 

 

4.Any standard car bumper , NO reinforcement,

 

fabrication or trailer hitches.

 

5.Engine mounts are recommended to be welded solid or

 

chained down.

 

6.Radiators must remain in original position or be

 

taken off.  NO NYLON STRAPS TO HOLD RADIATOR OR ALL

 

THREAD.  NO ANTIFREEZE-WATER ONLY DUE TO EPA

 

REGULATIONS. IF FAIR BOARD DISPOSES OF ANTIFREEZE,

 

THERE WILL BE A $25.00 CHARGE.

 

7.All doors are to be welded shut, no chain or bolts.

 

8.Cages should be secured to frame on driver's side

 

ONLY.  ONE IN FRONT SEAT AND ONE BEHIND OF SEAT.  MAY

 

NOT EXCEED 8" IN FRONT OR BEHIND SEAT.

 

9.Only one battery, any size is allowed.  All

 

batteries must be strapped/bolted to passenger side

 

floorboards and covered with protective covering.

 

10.cutting fenders only for wheel clearance is allowed

 

and ends of bumpers may be cut off.  Welding shock on

 

bumpers is permitted.

 

11.The hood may be fastened down in four places.

 

Sheer bar is required.  Trunk or tailgate is fastened

 

down in four places, with only THREE (3) strands of

 

wire through each hole.  No chains, bands, bolts,

 

pins, or tape.  Hood and trunk must be open until

 

inspection has been completed. 

 

12.FRONT DOORS MUST BE PAINTED WHITE FOR NUMBERING.

 

SPECIAL NUMBERS WILL BE PERMITTED.

 

13.Original gas tank must be removed.  A marine gas

 

tank or an approved metal container is recommended. NO

 

PLASTIC TANKS ALLOWED! Tank must be securely strapped

 

and bolted and covered in the rear seat area.  Maximum

 

of six (6) gallons of gasoline per heat.  All tanks

 

must have secure cap and all lines must be leak proof.

 

 Must have good quality gas lines.

 

14.Auto must be swept clean.  No junk tires, wheels,

 

metal parts, broken glass, etc. allowed in car.

 

15.It is highly recommend that driver door be

 

reinforced inside with steel bar, angel iron, or pipe.

 

 Length not to extended more than EIGHT (8) inches of

 

either end of the driver's door. NO kickers allowed.

 

16.Hood must have holes on each side, but not directly

 

above the carburetor, large enough to extinguish

 

engine fires without raising the hood.  Maximum of

 

EIGHT (8) tie downs, FOUR (4) on hood and FOUR (4) on

 

trunk, not to exceed THREE (3) strands per hole.

 

17.Tire restrictions are as follows:

 

     DOT approved, no double tires

 

     No liquids, solids, or foam inside tires(Air

 

Only)

 

      No studs, chains, or screws

 

      No wheel weights

 

      IF VIOLATIONS FOUND, AUTOMATIC

 

DISQUALIFICATION-NO MONEY REFUNDED

 

18.A strong wire or nylon mesh screen is recommended

 

on the driver's window and windshield area.  Plexiglas

 

is permitted in the driver's window.

 

19.All lines must be leak proof.  Must have good

 

quality gas lines.

 

20.Transmission coolers are allowed.

 

21.Manual kill switch.  Will be tested at tech station

 

if you have electronic fuel pump system.

 

22.Frame must be stock for your vehicle.  Factory

 

holes in frame must not be covered or plugged in order

 

to hide materials from inspection.  No materials may

 

be added that in any way strengthen frame.  Firewall

 

to remain intact and holes covered. NO IMPERIAL SUB

 

FRAMES ALLOWED! NO ALL THREAD EXCEPT BATTERY, GAS TANK

 

AND MOTOR MOUNTS ONLY!

 

23.No flags mounted on car.

 

24.COMPACT CARS-4 cylinder, 6 cylinder, 102" inch

 

wheel base maximum. Up to 14" rim and tire allowed.

 

25.No iron on outside of cars,neck brace recommended.

 

 

 

                  PREPARATION OF TRUCK

 

 

 

1.All glass; including windshield, side windows, rear

 

window, head and taillights must be removed. Rolling

 

down windows is not permitted. Glass in vehicle will

 

result in rejection at Tech Station.

11.EACH DRIVER MUST SIGN IN AT THE REGISTRATION TABLE

 

ON THE DATE OF THE SHOW AND HAVE THEIR VEHICLE

 

INSPECTED AT LEAST ON HOUR PRIOR TO SHOW TIME.

 

12.A strong wire or nylon mesh screen is recommended

 

on the driver's window and windshield area. Plexiglas

 

is permitted in the driver's window.

 

13.No flat,wooden bed. Metal factory only. Original

 

factory bumper-No specialty spring loaded bumpers. NO

 

UTILITY BEDS.

 

14.No flags mounted on vehicles.

 

15.Stock frame, tailgate must be welded, seams,-no

 

reinforcement of tailgate.

 

16.Stock tires: DOT approved. No liquids, solids, or

 

foams inside tires. AIR ONLY   No studs, chains or

 

screws, no wheel weights.

 

17.Battery securely mounted and covered in cab area.

 

18.Original gas tank must be removed. NO PLASTIC

 

TANKS. Gas tanks must be securely fastened in exact,

 

front center of bed. Must have steel line from gas

 

tank to engine compartment. Must be safely and

 

securely fastened. Manual and electric fuel pumps must

 

have manual shut off and will be tested. Officials

 

discretion strictly enforced on safety for fuel. Six

 

(6) gallons of gasoline maximum per heat.

 

19.can have EIGHT (8) extra bed bolts, any size.

 

20.DOT approved solid wheels-not split rims.

 

21.Roll cage- four corners, securely attached to

 

frame.

 

22.The cab solid to frame and securely fastened to

 

frame.

 

23.No reinforcement of frames. Inspection holes must

 

not be covered or plugged in order to hide foreign

 

materials from inspecting. No materials may be added

 

that in any way strengthen the frame. Firewalls to

 

remain intact and hole covered.

 

24.All doors must be WELDED and painted white.

 

Driver's door recommended to be reinforced with steel

 

bar, angle iron or pipe. Length not to extend more

 

than EIGHT (8) inches on either end of driver's door.

 

25.Bumpers are to be securely welded.

 

26.Hood fastened down in four (4) places. Hood latch

 

removed. Must have sheer bar. Three(3) strands of wire

 

in each tie down. Nine wire only.

 

27.No running boards.

 

28.Large enough holes on each side, but not directly

 

above the carburetor, large enough extinguish engine

 

fire without raising hood.

 

29.Brakes must be operable prior to event.

 

30.Neck brace recommended but not required.

 

31.CANNOT BEND REAR QUARTER PANELS BEHIND REAR TIRES.

 

 

 

                     RUNNING RULES

 

 

 

 

 

1.Safety belts, Z-90 approved helmets, goggles, or

 

face shield are REQUIRED.

 

2.No DELIBERATE head-on collision and no DELIBERATE

 

hitting in the DRIVER'S DOOR.  TRACK JUDGES DECISION

 

IS FINAL.

 

3.Vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times

 

and boundaries must be observed.  Brakes operable

 

prior to event.

 

4.NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON THE TRACK OR

 

IN THE INFIELD.  ANY DRIVER OR PIT PERSON UNDER THE

 

INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS WILL BE IMMEDIATELY

 

DISQUALIFIED AND REMOVED FROM THE GROUNDS.

 

5. No cars are allowed in the competition area before

 

the heat in which they are to participate.

 

6.A vehicle WILL BE disqualified if the drivers door

 

comes open during the heat.

 

7.One-minute time limit will be strictly enforced for

 

restarts.  A contestant "on the clock" must make a hit

 

in one minute or be disqualified.  All judges are

 

equipped with stopwatches and their decision is FINAL.

 

NO SAND BAGGING WILL BE TOLERATED.

 

8.All cars are to be removed from Fairgrounds

 

following the show or they will become property of the

 

Association and the officials will have them removed.

 

A removal deposit may be required.

 

9.A $50.00 protest fee is required to contest another

 

car BEFORE event begins.  Money goes to the Edgar

 

County Fair Association.

 

10.Boundaries must be observed at all times.  Any car

 

shoved or driven out of bounds may be immediately

 

disqualified if derby officials feel that it is a

 

safety hazard.

 

11.All Cars and trucks can be re-inspected at any

 

time.

 

 

 

THE DERBY WILL BE COMPOSED ON INDIVIDUAL HEATS AND ONE

 

FEATURE WITH CASH GOING TO THE TOP THREE OF EACH HEAT

 

AND THE GRAND PRIZE GOING TO THE WINNER OF THE

 

FEATURE.

 

 

 

Let's try to keep this Derby peaceful, and try not to

 

"trash" the grounds, so we can keep having a

 

Demolition Derby at Paris in years to come.
